What is a DSE assessment and is my business legally required to have one?
A Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessment evaluates the workstation setup of employees who regularly use computers, laptops or other screens. Under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 (as amended), employers in the UK have a legal duty to assess DSE workstations for all habitual users and act on any identified risks. This applies to both office-based and home-working employees.How long does an ergonomic assessment take?
A typical on-site workstation assessment takes between 10 and 20 minutes per employee. This includes observing posture, reviewing equipment setup, interviewing the individual about any discomfort, and completing documentation. Group or site-wide assessments are scheduled to minimise disruption to your working day.
